Ok, I'm no stranger to bats here in E. Tn, but I've never seen one upside down on my porch!! It is 1:30 PM and it is still there. I should really probably chase it away with a broom, but fear it would be my luck that it would swoop down and bite me. Then I really would be a bloodsucker (as my husband so lovingly calls me)! LOL
Well, I wanted a "living" nature study didn't I?! Guess I got one. We haven't started on the birds yet so I guess this is close enough...not really, but it will do.
On another note, Jessica wakes up this morning saying she wants to be a Physical Therapist. She has actually been saying that for a while now, but she hates looking at pictures of the body, and I try to explain that she has to have a great understanding of the body! So she starts bugging me about where the visuals are of the skeleton w/out and with muscles that we studied in the fall. She has drawn a model of the skeletal system and labeled it, and did it in no time! So next she will be drawing the muscles on the skeleton and labeling it as well. I'm always so very impressed with her artistic ability. I told her not to rush through it and to take her time, but of course she did not.
Next week I hope to get started on the My Body book for everyone. We will be tracing all the kids bodies onto butcher paper, then they will color the sheets with the organs and placing them in the correct location. We also have a human model from The School Box that has a great book with it so I plan to incorporate that as well. The organs that go inside the model feel like the real organs! It's so cool.
Jonie, your blog is so cute - did you design it yourself? I like the picture of your kids in the header; they are adorable!
