Wish I could say that my poor feet feel much better since my last post on Tuesday, but I can't. As a matter of fact I felt pretty stinky until today. I have however had a shower and that felt really good...even though my feet were hanging out of the tub the entire time while I sat on a chair. I think a shower chair is going to be a must have if I will continue to not be allowed to get my feet wet.
Yesterday put me back at square one in regards to my pain level. I called the doc office on Wednesday to inform them that I was almost out of the pain meds. It took them 30 hours to call me back, then Phillip had to go to the west side of town to pick up the paper Rx because it is a narcotic, and by law the pharmacy can't do refills on narcotics without the paper. So by the time he got home with the medicine I was feeling as if someone had my feet in a huge vice winding and winding and winding. Controlling the pain the first time around wasn't as hard because my feet were basically numb from surgery!
I can say a day without the meds has helped clear out some of the mental block and extreme sleepiness I was feeling. The body is a truly amazing creation and it has been oddly interesting to me to see how my body and mind has reacted to this trauma it has undergone. I think I've held up pretty well so far. I was a little anxious about handling the pain. I've heard from everyone that I've talked to, including medical professionals, that any type of surgery dealing with the feet is always bad for being very painful. I understand to the fullest now!
Well, we will get to see how well I hold up on Monday. That will be ten days after surgery. By the way, today is one week to the day since my feet were broken and put back together. On Monday they will take out stitches, x-ray my feet, then decide if I will be put in casts or boots. I'm not sure if I will even look at my feet! I can't imagine they will look normal at all!!! Probably bruised, green and purple. :( Of course, they didn't look normal before the surgery. LOL Maybe I'll take a picture....
BTW, take a look below at some pics I posted. Some are of Calvin & Hobbes helping Mommy take off her boots. :)
